Sputnik Hotel in Moscow

The Sputnik Hotel is a modern 3-star hotel located in the south-west of Moscow on Leninskiy Prospekt, one of the city's major through roads. From the higher floors of the hotel, a functional 1960s block, there are superb panoramic views of southern Moscow, dominated by the Moscow State University building in the Sparrow Hills and the Luzhniki Central Stadium. The Sputnik Hotel is roughly five kilometers from the Kremlin and Red Square.

Built in 1968 to accommodate members of the All-Union Central Soviet of Trade Unions, the hotel was partly renovated in 2006, and is still aimed predominantly at business travelers. The Sputnik offers a mixture of budget unrenovated rooms and smarter superior accommodation, with a total of 360 rooms including 22 junior suites. Although amenities at the Sputnik are basic, the hotel does have three functional meeting spaces with good technical facilities, and a wide range of on-site dining options including a genuine Indian restaurant with a broad selection of vegetarian dishes. Complimentary WiFi Internet access is available only in the lobby bar on the ground floor and basement levels.

The Sputnik Hotel is just under ten minutes’ walk from Leninskiy Prospekt Metro Station. From there it is only 11 minutes’ journey to Kitay-Gorod Station, which is in the very centre of Moscow and only a few minutes on foot from Red Square and the Bolshoi Theater.
