Tsaritsyno Hotel

Nearest metro: Orekhovo

The Tsaritsyno Hotel is located near the southern outskirts of Moscow, in a modern but green residential district close the historic royal estate and palace at Tsaritsyno.

It is just under ten minutes' walk from the hotel to Orekhovo Metro Station, which is on the dark-green line and eight stops (about 25 minutes' journey) south of Teatralnaya, which is next to the Bolshoi Theatre and very close to Red Square and the Kremlin.

Moscow's mainline stations are all located around the historic center of the city and, from the Tsaritsyno Hotel, can take at least an hour to reach by car. The hotel is fairly conveniently, however, for both Domodedovo and Vnukovo Airports, both of which are around 40 minutes' drive from the hotel. Sheremetyevo Airport is on the opposite side of Moscow, but can be reached on the Moscow ring road in 60-70 minutes.

Local Sightseeing

The major visitor attraction near the Tsaritsyno Hotel is Tsaritsyno Palace and Park, which is around ten minutes' walk from the hotel. With connections to the Russian royal family dating back to the late 16th century (when it belonged to the sister of Tsar Boris Godunov), the estate was bought by Catherine the Great in 1775. The Empress set several prominent architects to work to create a palace and landscape garden. Although the remarkable pseudo-Gothic palace and many of the fascinating buildings in the grounds were never actually completed, a recent restoration project has ensured that all of them now have roofing and recreated interiors. The park is a beautiful place for summer excursions, and there are several interesting buildings and museums around the grounds.
