The Sayany Hotel is located at the far north-eastern limits of Moscow, on the edge of Elk Island Nature Reserve, a 12,000-hectare area of protected parkland that is home to a vast array of flora and fauna.
The hotel is about 5km from VDNKh Metro Station, which can be reached in 20 minutes by bus. From the Ulitsa Fedosinskaya bus-stop take buses 224, 172 and 136, or trolleybus 76. The route is also served by a number of private minibuses ("marshrutki"). From VDNKh, it will take a further 15 minutes to reach the city center.
Moscow's mainline stations are all located in the center of the city, and will take at least 45 minutes to reach by taxi. Sheremetyevo Airport is relatively close to the hotel, and should be reachable within 20 minutes' drive. Domodedovo and Vnukovo Airports are further away, and the drive to them should take around 45 minutes.
Local sightseeing
The main attraction of the Sayany Hotel is its proximity to Elk Island (Losiniy Ostrov) Nature Reserve. This vast park has been known since the 15th century, first as a carefully guarded royal hunting ground, later as a popular site for Muscovites to escape from the city at weekends. Officially recognized as a nature reserve since 1983, the park contains the source of the Yauza, Moscow's second river, and has also been the site of archaeological explorations which have uncovered burial mounds and other remains dating back to around 1000BC.
