If all you care about is Western standards and the type of mattress you get, maybe the Metropol is not the hotel for you. The exterior, lobby, and restaurants are beautiful enough to take your breath away, and the rooms are in some ways old-fashioned, but also feel like a part of history. It has an amazing feeling of peace and the past, although it is right in the middle of a very busy city. When they do renovate this hotel, I hope it does not lose all its charm.

I stayed at the Metropol in July of 2008. The location was amazing. The room was very clean, but the AC wasn't the best. The beds and pillows could be more a bit comfortable. The food was very good. The hotel itself is beautiful.

I stayed with my husband in the Metropole Hotel Moscow 17.05.07 to 20.05.07
and I would recommend it to everyone. It is in an ideal location only five minutes walk from Red Square. The staff were both helpful and very pleasant to deal with and they do smile even though the reviews I read said the opposite. If you treat people the way you would like to be treated yourself you have no problem at all. Nothing seemed to be any trouble to them. The buffet breakfast was more than enough with hot of cold foods to choose from and the lady playing the harp was a lovely touch. We also had dinner in the Metroploe Restaurant on one of the evenings. The food was lovely and the waiter was professional and very polite. the pnly fault I can come up with is that when we arrived we were given a room with two single beds for the first night and this is not what we booked. I feel this should never have happened but it would not stop us going to stay in Moscow or the Metroploe Hotel again. We loved it.Pauline Burke, Tipperary Ireland

Very nice hotel indeed... Stayed there in November of 2005. Staff is polite and accomodating. Room was clean with high ceiling and comfortable bed. I also liked the fact that they have an airport pick-up/drop-off service: it's very useful not having to deal with airport pirate cabs. The restaurants are OK but a bit overpriced, there are many more nicer areas for dining in the close vicinity. The bar area is pleasant, some working girls, but not vulgar or intusive, so they just add to the atmosphere of the hotel. The location is ideal. Would definitly stay again. I liked it better then the GRAND Marriott for its elegance and old world charm.

Stayed in Metropol last summer 04, The location could not be better. The main lobby entry is just steps from Red Square and resturants, plus the mall. Loved the morning breakfast buffet, the dinning room is gorgeous with glass rood and harp player entertaining. Rooms clean and well designed.
