Just come back from five days in Moscow at the Melody Hotel, and I'm very glad I chose this place. Not right next to the Kremlin, perhaps, but very central and in an interesting neighborhood. I thoroughly recommend going to see the Maxim Gorky House Museum, which is in a beautiful building about five minutes' walk from the Melody. Also recommended is Sinbad Cafe on Nikitsky Bulvar, for cheap and very tasty Lebanese food. The hotel itself is more than adequate, with rooms that are small but shiny and comfortable. Free WiFi was a big plus for me.

This hotel is great if you want to be in downtown Moscow, but also have some peace and quiet in what seems like a very loud city. We walked down to the Kremlin twice, and it took us around 20 minutes to get there. The area around the hotel is residential, with a lot of old side streets and a lot embassies - always good for safety as they normally have guards outside. For the money, this is a very nice little hotel, although not full of character.
