Maxima Panorama Hotel

Although there is little in the way of sights or attractions in the immediate neighborhood of the Maxima Panorama Hotel, the convenience of the metro means that it is very easy to reach Red Square, the Kremlin and the Bolshoi Theatre (three stops from Avtozavodskaya), the Tretyakov Gallery (two stops) and two of Moscow's most attractive historical parks.

Kolomenskoe, which is only one metro stop south from the hotel, was a village with connections to the Russian royal family dating back to the 15th century. Arguably most beautiful park, it boasts an open-air museum of historic wooden buildings brought from various parts of Russia, and several historic churches of which the finest, the Church of the Ascension of Our Lord, is recognized as one of the greatest products of medieval Russian architecture. Completed in 1523 to mark the birth of the future Ivan the Terrible, its unique tent-roof structure and position on a promontory over the Moskva River make it a truly awe-inspiring sight.

Four stops further on the metro down the dark-green line will bring guests to Tsaritsyno, another former royal estate that dates back to the reign of Boris Godunov, but is most famous for the immense neo-gothic palace and landscape garden commissioned by Catherine the Great. The park and its historic buildings have recently undergone a massive restoration program.
