HOME IZMAILOVO VEGA HOTEL LOCATIONS AND DIRECTIONS |

Nearest metro: Partizanskaya
Although the Izmailovo Vega Hotel is located in Moscow's north-eastern suburbs, guests will find that good public transport links make exploring the city remarkably easy. The hotel also has the advantage of being part of a large hotel complex, with a full range of amenities, restaurants and shops in comfortable walking distance. The hotel is surrounded by rambling parkland, with attractive landscaping and lakes.
The nearest metro station to the hotel is Izmailovsky Park, which is less than five minutes on foot from the Izmailovo Vega's front door. From here it takes about 20 minutes to get to Ploshchad Revolutsii, right next to Red Square and the Kremlin.
Three of Moscow's mainline railway stations - Leningradsky, Kazansky and Yaroslavsky - are situated on Komsomolskaya Ploshchad, at the eastern edge of central Moscow. To get there from the Izmailovo Vega will take around 40 minutes by car. Other Moscow mainline stations can be reached within the hour.
From Sheremetyevo-2 International Airport it is about an hour by taxi to the Izmailovo Vega Hotel. Domodedovo Airport is slightly closer to the hotel, and should be reachable by car in around 40 minutes. Vnukovo Airport is on the opposite side of the city from the Izmailovo hotel complex, and guests should allow at least an hour and a half to get there. |
 | Local sightseeing |
While it is necessary to take the metro to explore most of Moscow's major attractions from the Izmailovo Vega Hotel, guests should not miss the delights of Izmailovsky Park, which surrounds the Izmailovo hotel complex. Dating back to the 14th century, the park was developed under Alexei Mikhailovich, son of the first Romanov Tsar, as a model village which was used for experiments in agriculture and as a retreat for the Tsar's family. Peter the Great spent much of his childhood at Izmailovo, boating on the lakes and playing war games in the park's ample grounds and forest.
Among the most interesting sights that have survived to this day are the glorious Pokhorovskiy Cathedral on Silver Island, and the complex of buildings that surrounds it, most of which were designed by the famous Moscow classicist Konstantin Ton.
The park is the ideal place for strolling in summer, and the Izmailovsky Souvenir Market, which is held in a wooden fenced enclosure near the metro station every Saturday and Sunday, is on of the best places in Moscow to pick up reasonably priced gifts, including nesting dolls and hand-painted wooden bowls and spoons.
