Nearest metro: Smolenskaya

The Arbat Hotel is located in the very center of Moscow, just 5 minutes' walk from the Russian capital's most famous shopping street, the Arbat. The Moscow River can be reached on foot in about 10 minutes, and the city's major sights are also not far away.

The Arbat Hotel is located about 25 kilometers from all of Moscow's airports - Sheremetevo-1, Sheremetevo-2, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Bykovo. To get to any of them takes about 1.5-2 hours.

The nearest railroad station to the hotel Arbat is the Kiev Station, about 10 minutes away by car. Kursk, Belarus, and Pavletsk stations are all located about 3.5 kilomters away, which takes about 20-30 minutes by car. Other stations - Leningrad, Yaroslavl, Kazan, Riga, and Kursk - are slightly further away (just over 5 kilometers); to reach them takes 40-50 minutes in good conditions.

The nearest metro station is Smolenskaya, about 400 meters (5-7 minutes' walk) away.
Local sightseeing
Just a few minutes' walk away from the Arbat Hotel is the Arbat, one of Moscow's most famous streets, and a center for the Russian capital's alternative culture. The area grew up in the 18th century, and has been a center for Moscow's intelligentsia ever since.

A bit further along Plotnikov Pereulok from the Arbat Hotel is Gagarinsky Pereulok, at the end of which are the Prechistensky Gates, from where you can see the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The Cathedral was originally erected in the 19th century as a monument to the victory over Napoleon in the War of 1812. In 1931 it was demolished by order of the Soviet regime and a swimming pool built in its place, but in 1990 the Moscow city government under Mayor Yury Luzhkov pushed to have it rebuilt.

Roughly 2 kilometers from the Hotel Arbat is the Kremlin, the center of Moscow's and subsequently Russia's political life for centuries. The Kremlin has 20 towers, linked by a massive red-brick wall. It is home to some of Russia's most famous monuments, from cathedrals and palaces to the Tsar Cannon and Bell. And, of course, the President lives there.
