Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel

The Marriott Royal Aurora is within comfortable walking distance of Moscow's most famous visitor attractions, with the Kremlin and Red Square less than 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. The Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow's internationally-renowned opera and ballet theatre, is housed in a grand 19th-century building only 300 m from the Royal Aurora, making the hotel one of the best places to stay for ballet and opera lovers.

The Marriott Royal Aurora is located on Ultisa Petrovka, one of the most beautiful historic streets in Moscow, which takes its name from the Vysokopetrovsky Monastery, a religious house which dates back to the 14th century and is located about 400 m north of the Marriott Royal Aurora. The street has a long history of prominence in Moscow, once as the most fashionable residential address in the city, and now as the centre of Moscow's most luxurious shopping district, with numerous up-market boutiques and the Petrovsky Passazh shopping arcade, built in 1906, which is just across the road from the hotel.

Housed, somewhat incongruously, in the courtyard of the building next to Petrovsky Passazh is Moscow's Museum of the GULAG, a small but intensely moving exhibition that chronicles the political and cultural repressions of the Soviet Union.
