Marriott Royal Aurora Hotel

The Marriott Royal Aurora's superb central location means that the hotel is within comfortable walking distance of the Moscow Kremlin, Red Square, and the Bolshoi Theater, which is on the same street as the hotel.

Also on Ulitsa Petrovka, at the northern end of the street (about ten minutes' walk from the hotel) are the idiosyncratic Moscow Museum of Modern Art, which is worth visiting for its collection of Russian avant garde art from the 1910s and 1920s, and opposite the museum the Verkhopetrovskiy Monastery, one of Moscow's oldest, which although dilapidated has survived almost unaltered since the 17th century.

Among the more unusual sights of interest close to the hotel are the atmospheric Museum of GULAG History, in a courtyard right opposite the hotel, and Sandunovsky Baths, Moscow's oldest and most luxurious public bathhouse, which is worth visiting for its stunning interiors alone.
