Marriott Grand Hotel

The Marriott Grand Hotel is located on Tverskaya Ulitsa, the central Moscow thoroughfare that follows the route of the medieval highway to Tver. At the convergence of Tverskaya Ulitsa and the Garden Ring, only 150 m from the Marriott Grand Hotel, Triumfalnaya Ploshchad ("Triumph Square") is one of the most impressive Soviet-era public spaces in Moscow, dominated by a monumental statue of Vladimir Mayakovsky, the Futurist poet renowned both for his stirring, formally inventive revolutionary verse and his laceratingly self-aware love poetry. The square is also the site of the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, home of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and one of the premier venues for live classical music in the city.

On the opposite side of Tverskaya Ulitsa about 200 m south of the Marriott Grand Hotel, the magnificent red neoclassical building that was home to Moscow's English Club in the 19th century is now the Museum of the Contemporary History of Russia, which has some fascinating displays devoted to the Soviet era.
