Standing only five minutes walk from Moscow's famous Gorky Park, just to the south of the central Garden Ring, the Akademicheskaya offers some of the cheapest hotel accommodation in central Moscow.
Built in 1972 as a hostel for guests of the Academy of Sciences, the Akademicheskaya was substantially renovated in 2000 and now offers a mixture of bargain standard rooms and renovated superior accommodation that is still relatively inexpensive. Although the hotel offers little in the way of leisure facilities, it does have a fully equipped business center with space to host meetings and large-scale corporate events. Located at the southern edge of the historic Zamoskvorechie district, the Akademicheskaya provides easy access to many of Moscow's major attractions via metro, with Red Square and the Kremlin only a couple of stops away.
As well as Gorky Park (the First Park of Culture and Leisure), other sights of interest near the hotel include the Tretyakov Gallery's 20th century collection and the Graveyard of Fallen Monuments.
