Nearest metro: Dinamo
The Bega Hotel is located just north-west of Moscow's city center, around 5km from Red Square and the Moscow Kremlin.
The nearest metro stations, Dinamo and Begovaya, are around 15 minutes' walk from the hotel. The former, on the dark-green line, is four stops from Teatral'naya, next to the Bolshoi Theatre, Red Square and the Kremlin. From Begovaya, on the purple line, it is four stops to Kuznetsky Most, in the heart of the historic center.
Belarusskiy Station is 5-10 minutes' drive from the Bega Hotel, and all the city's other mainline stations are within a 40-minute drive. Sheremetyevo International Airport, about 24km away, is easily reached by car in 45 minutes. |

There is not much in the way of visitor attractions in the immediate area of the Bega Hotel, except for the Central Moscow Hippodrome, which the hotel was originally built to serve.
Founded in 1834, the Hippodrome is Russia's premiere racetrack, home to the Russian Derby (run since 1886). This says nothing for the quality of racing which, although slowly improving as equestrian sports become popular with rich Russians, is still dire by Western European standards. The buildings, however, which date from 1930, are a superb example of early Stalinist neoclassicism, and guests on the higher floors of the hotel are offered superb views of them and of the horses exercising in the mornings.
Also on a sporting note, the Bega Hotel is about 20 minutes' walk from Dynamo Stadium, home to Dynamo FC, the Premier League club founded in 1923 by Felix Dzerzhinsky, head of the Cheka (the proto-KGB). Built in 1928, the stadium also hosts other sporting events and the occasional concert. |
