Nearest metro: Dinamo
The Aerostar Hotel is located just north-west of Moscow's historic centre on Leningradskiy Prospekt, the main road heading out of the city to Sheremetyevo International Airport and, ultimately, to St. Petersburg. The area around the hotel is a relatively smart residential district with many fine examples of Stalinist neoclassical architecture.
Sheremetyevo can be reached from the Aerostar in between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on traffic. The nearest mainline station is Belarusskiy Station, around 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Other mainline stations can be reached by car in 40 minutes or less. The hotel is roughly equidistant from Aeroport and Dynamo Metro Stations, both of which can be reached in 10 minutes' walk, and both of which are on the dark-green line. It is only three stops from Dinamo to Teatralnaya Station, which is right next to the Bolshoi Theatre and only a couple of minutes' walk from Red Square and the Kremlin. |
 | Local sightseeing |
Although the Aerostar is fairly close to Moscow's historic downtown, there are few visitor attractions in the area. Only a few minutes' walk from the hotel is Dynamo Stadium, home to Moscow's oldest football team. It's museum is likely to be of interest only to Russian-speaking football fans.
2.5 kilometers from the hotel, at 8 Ulitsa Rozanova, is the Imperial Russian Ballet Theater, founder in 1994 by the legendary Russian ballerina Maya Plisetskaya. The theater's company comprises 40 dancers from Russia's best ballet schools in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Perm. The company's repertoire comprises favorite ballet classics and more modern productions.
5-10 minutes' walk from the Aerostar Hotel is the Aviation and Space Exploration History Museum. The museum's 8 rooms are home to various materials - some of them rare - chronicling the growth of aviation and space technology in Russia. The museum's collections hold 1,200 items, about 12,500 literary sources, and more than 30,000 photographs and negatives.
The Moscow State Academic Philharmonic is about 15-20 minutes' drive away. For more than 80 years the Philharmonic has been a musical center of Moscow life. Classical music concerts performed by Russian and foreign artists take place daily. |
